Mushroom rock Barbados

This post is dedicated to all the Americans who spent the last week freezing their butts off under a few feet of snow. Let the strange landscape of Barbados’ East Coast sweep you up into a warm embrace of ocean breezes and hot Caribbean sun.

Mushroom rock is one of many enormous boulders strewn along the beach in front of Bathsheba, the major town on this not-touristy-at-all part of the island. The area is famous for surfers and local picnics on the weekend. The ocean boulders provide an otherworldly atmosphere that really adds to the sense that you couldn’t be further from the cruise ships and resorts the Caribbean is known for.
