Going through a quarter-life crisis is often what leads people to become digital nomads, freelancers, entrepreneurs and take up other non-traditional lifestyles. So when my amazing friend Katy Stewart, of Starry-Eyed Travels, asked me to write the foreword for her new book This Crazy, Beautiful Life, the girls’ guide to successfully navigating a quarter-life crisis, I jumped at the chance!

This is an issue close to my heart. As I look around the corner to my rapidly-approaching 30th birthday, I really appreciate the wild ride that took me from a lost 24-year-old faced with endless options (and unable to choose amongst them), to driven world traveler constantly planning my next business move in my favorite exotic destinations.

It was a winding journey, and at times it felt like I would never emerge, but I did (huzzah!). And I can honestly say the thing that helped me the most was talking with other brilliant young women about what they were going through. Though we may have come to our quarter-life crises from different places, and be heading in different directions, it’s amazing how similar the issues we faced were. And just hearing about other people’s journeys helped me on my own path. Like having a map in a new city, or a flashlight in the dark.

This Crazy Beautiful Life

That’s why I love Katy’s book so much. She’s brought together women from different walks of life (including me!), recorded their experiences with their own quarter-life crises, and come up with a brilliant analysis of the issues that are causing us Millennials so much strife.

Allow me to not-so-subtly quote my own foreword: “These stories are a lifeline in a sea of uncertainty and second-guessing yourself. Grab this book and don’t let go.” If you’re going through your own quarter-life crisis, put this book on your reading list!
